-Dear Poetry Soup

Dear Poetry Soup,
I have known and enjoyed you since 2021
I decided this would be a lifetime connection
As you were personable, special and so much fun

When l first met you were friendly and comforting
You felt like home
But sadly you have changed of late
You are distant and our relationship is now unknown

Poets have become discontent and restless
As there is many a concern
A disconnect is now present
Many poets have left …vowed never to return

Sadly, you no longer feel the same ….as you once did
Comradery and connections have faded
Perhaps it is time for a change of ingredients
So the Soup is current, tasty and upgraded!

Hi Deb, I think this happens to many sites I have been on Fanstory site for 10 years and same sentiments as you write happen there too. it seems sites have their favourites everywhere same ones always win the contest both here and FS At least poetry soup only has a one off joining fee FS is expensive in annual fees and contest fees I have spent thousands over years Stay here they need all the Aussies they can get lol a good poem Cheers Chris

PS would lose a lot if it lost you Deb, so please stay! I get on here to read and write my own poems, but not as often as I wish I could. I miss some who have left, and we lost so many who are now passed on to the other side. We do still have our sweethearts though, but it would be nice if all the poets could just be kind and respectful to everyone else. I'm glad you are here, you are a sweet warm hug and a ray of sunshine on this site.

I like Gershon’s comment! People get their feelings hurt and others hurt people. I am here to write. I hope many will return. Some days I read poems that sound like blah blah blah but other days so many lovely writes!

I have not been on much these past few months and hope things can improve for everyone. I like to see uplifting comment. I know something happened as I had to go and redo my settings twice so I could get comments. I did not realize they were turned off. Have a wonderful weekend Deb. love phyl

I hear you, Deb. And I wholeheartedly agree. I find myself mistrusting all those ‘ten a day’ posters (excluding those that have always done so… apologies, Caren). It’s a strange thing, but I think the switch got flicked about the time that we lost Milton. I guess that’s coincidence. Terry x

Dear Deb, I found PS in 2017 when I was looking for someplace to share my feelings. Sometimes, relationships ebb and flow so try not to give up! I am unclear as to the AI issues but that definitely seems to defeat the purpose of poetry so can't understand its attraction. Besides, I need you to comment on my little scribblings!!

well said, deb, but i wonder what can be done to actually improve things around here. i know that change is inevitable, but the supportive connections that used to exist seem to have slipped away and so many people have moved on. maybe it just reflects the world we're living in...

I feel like this from time to time as well, Deb. Yet I've found that the grass is greener on the other side, until you sit on their lawn --- which is always 90% fertilizer.

Dearest Deb, Such an honest, heartfelt reflection on change and the bittersweetness of watching something you once loved transform. I can feel the affection and nostalgia in your words along with the warmth of those early days when the community felt like home, and realizing that things just aren’t the same anymore. I once asked a long-term PS person where all the connections from 10 years ago and their amazing talents . They related that they did not know. Change is inevitable, and I believe technology has made us feel more discontent. I have changed my perspective to finding joy in everything I do, which includes building friends like you. Summer Blessings, My Dear Deb, Daniel

It's sad to see Deb, it certainly hasn't got that family feel anymore. The buzz has gone from the site. Issues you raise are just ignored, AI and plagiarism are adding to the decline of what was once a great poetry site Tom

It was such fun when I joined in 2014 Deb, now soup is sour, the blatant use of AI and plagarised poems has not helped in recent months. I wish things were different Deb but the atmosphere is toxic to say the least, Just messaged a poet who has given up posting, it makes me sad on so many levels:-( hugs Jan xx

It has definitely changed Jan…..it doesn't have the positive, familiar vibe it once had ….. its a combination of different things that have made it feel less appealing! Time will tell! Debx
