A tribute to our friend and poet, Jack Ellison, who has retired from Poetry Soup, due to health reasons.

We could have written hundreds of lines to honour him, but decided to keep it short and sweet, just like his little daily bundles of smiles and laughter.

Everyone knows the limerick king, Jack, penning funnies, spreading laughter galore. His wit will give your funny bone a smack, a legend who'll go down in 'soup' folklore. Not just for limericks had he a knack, for his charm one could not help but adore; so many he touched and when he looks back, bid he know he remains a cherished mentor.
In collaboration with Maureen McGreavy 19 September 2018 In honour to a great poet and friend, Jack Ellison, who has retired from Poetry Soup..

Well done both of you collaborators! Jack will be missed. I often read his poems, though rarely commented on them since I knew he would not have the time to answer. Regards // paul

Gone but never forgotten. An image or mere thought of him summons so many early memories of the soup for me.

Very nice SO, so sorry to hear of Jack's retirement. I didn't know him all that long because I myself have only been here a short while. But what I have learned from him is that he was a genuine gentleman as well as a great poet. Blessings to Jack and I know I speak for others when I say we're going to miss him. Stay well my friend my thoughts are with you.

To say that Jack will be missed seems like such an understatement. He is one of those rare people who instantly became a friend instead of "just" another poet in the Soup. There are no words to truly reflect what a joy his limericks were. A true inspiration to all.Si and Maureen you have both done an awesome job honoring this wonderful man. ...Maria
