Deafening Silence Premiere Contest Winner

Living in a realm where
the air seems to
be still as stone,
invisible, like a
ghost of a rose,
translucent and frozen in
time of ruthless seconds.

My heart still
keeps pacing to
hear the flickering
rays of your voice,
flatlined and hushed
beyond reach,
whilst I’m here
searching for
serenity through
sanguine serenades,
woven meticulously
to my soul,
in unwavering waves from
thousand seas away.

What can I do to make you
love me like I love you,
must I steal the stars
from its rightful skies,
just so that I can
please your eyes?
Or should I hide behind these
rhymeless phrases,
where veiled vowels
and nonchalant nouns
within poetic punctuations
pierce through
this bleeding quill?
Would it seem like these
tunes have been tortured
together to descend and
tangle with tainted thorns?
Tormented traps tied
from an invincible inferno.

But aren’t we breathing
within binary
codes constantly?
surfing through the
zigzags of repetitive
numbers and
acrobatic alphabets,
vaporized amongst
empty spaces where
the universe unfolds
parallel paradigms.

Losing human connection
in the deafening silence,
while channelled tunnels
carry wires through
unassigned boards,
falling on our
intellectual swords,
fingers tap against
the cold keys,
unable to feel the
warmth behind words-
misunderstood and
misinterpreted as
mountains eclipse the sun.

So let me grieve over
the unsung sonnets;
maybe one-day I’ll meet my moon
in a sphere of immutable melodies—
forever calming these chaotic calligraphies.

This is a very good poem. Losing touch with a person who you were very close to is very painful, and your poem describes that very well. Good write!

I am giving you a standing ovation. Sorry I miss many such gems in poetry soup as my time to be here is limited with a number of other family engagements. Empress, this poem is matchless in beauty, profundity and poignancy. How can one maintain a level above the ordinary mark in all that one writes! Simply unbelievable...!"Or should I hide behind these rhymeless phrases, where veiled vowels and nonchalant nouns within poetic punctuations pierce through this bleeding quill?" Stunning. Into my FAVE. Congratulations on your much deserved trophy win.

Dear Valsa, please dont apologize your real life matters most and i appreciate you always. Its hard to balance all. And i am so grateful for your kind and thoughtful feedback. This poem means alot because it was one of those days i was having intense endometriosis pain, migraines but had a deadline to write for “ deafening silence” and I just poured this. Your poem conveys the agony of longing for an adored, dear Ink. As always, your words paint a vivid picture of solitude and absence, and you do so with such profundity and emotion. Such eloquent and smoothly flowing language. You've created exquisite imagery regarding silence as well. Simply put, you are phenomenal, Ink as is your poetry! In this poignant poem originating from a heart filled with sorrow, "One day I'll meet my moon in a sphere of immutable melodies" is an appealing conclusion.

What can I do to make you love me like I love you.. A love not reciprocated is not love... despite how much we yearn for another.. I hope you meet your moon and those unsung sonnets are sung beautifully in union.. your poem shows the angst of yearning for the beloved.. You words portray a picture of absence and loneliness and you as always describe it so emotively and deeply..

Living in a realm where the air seems to be still as stone--these opening lines speak to the deafening silence you speak of. A forlorn poem emanating from a grieving heart brilliantly delivered, Ink. I like the upbeat ending: maybe one-day I’ll meet my moon in a sphere of immutable melodies...

"ghost of a rose" Wowww, goshh, this is such a beautiful and artistic write, with a marvelous flow as well!! You've truly said it so correctly how emotions remain unseen behind the thorn-laden scratches on graphical screens.. And the true essence of love can't be fully conveyed! Such a clever way of saying this in such a profound and poetical way, my dear gorgeous Ink.. You're just amazing and so are your words! "What can I do to make you love me like I love you, must I steal the stars...eyes? -

"Or should I hide behind these rhymeless phrases, where veiled vowels and nonchalant nouns within poetic punctuations pierce through this bleeding quill?", "fingers tap against the cold keys, unable to feel the warmth behind words-misunderstood and misinterpreted as mountains eclipse the sun" And that brilliant ending! Just so full of artistic imagery, depth, profound emotions, all carved together so effortlessly.. I just lovee this.. And that title is so stunning too! Keep shining & writing my dear, sending you light always :) A fav
