Days of Uncertainty

Lady Liberty's torch will slowly solemnly rise During these sixty-plus days of uncertain sorrows Before we, the people, can lift our moistened eyes And think about brighter, more positive tomorrows. Each day we fear what next dreaded act of desperation What despicable decision will imperil our future Even with the new administration in preparation Each day makes us more and more unsure. We count unsteady days until the sordid past is history We try to be encouraged by our newly elected leader Still we find it extremely difficult to avoid feeling jittery Its hard to calm our minds long enough to take a breather. Never in our history have we experienced such a time While feeling the piercing jabs of loathing on every side Or found so difficult the mount of right and good to climb How grateful we are to have Lady Liberty as our guide.
