David Phillips
David is an archer and comes from Newport,
He’s Welsh, and got MS in the sixties hippy.
He took a break from competitions, the sport,
Having done very well in his late teens, nippy.
So upon retirement from the steel industry,
In 2012 he returned to archery to shoot,
And in a year his performances did carry,
Him into Para-archery, into the recurve shoot.
He made his exciting international para debut,
At the Czech Grand Prix, and he appreciates,
The coaching from ArcheryGB who did renew,
His love for aiming at the board ‘cos he rates.
He did well at the European Championships,
In Switzerland where he won the team gold,
And won mixed pairs bronze, others to eclipse,
A fifth place in the individual comp. to hold.
“This is a second chance at sport for me,
And I’m grasping it with both hands, [moored],
[My technique is good] and ArcheryGB [help me],
Which is bringing me on ten-fold, [matured].“
