Notes About The Poem

 

Dedicated to Darren White, who is in ICU recovering from a terrible 5 hour surgery. I can only imagine the long road this brave soldier has walked, so young, and filled with such love for others. My heart weeps for you, and I truly and most sincerely hope, that all of our thoughts and prayers reach you somehow. I know nothing of the workings of this universe, yet I hope somehow that these thoughts can traverse place and minds!

Darren is such a good friend, he won’t even mind if I get the girl at the Dance!!!!

Get well soon Darren!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dancing With Darren

Dance is like fire
Been around and for quite a while
Seducing youth
Bringing juice to those old with no tooth

The body and rhythm are beauty and time
Even if real beauty is buried in the mind
Dance like the dead
Whom ever you may be

For the dance is within
Both you and me
It’s in our souls
Even if our legs know not the goal

The human spirit dances each day
Even when war sends bullets your way
Stand up and dance for all mankind
For dancing shall defeat the evil ones mind

Dance with the stars
Dance with the moon
Dance with Arthur and Lisa
The limousine has more room!

Whether in New York or Bangkok
The dance doesn’t understand any clock
The rhythms’ come from deep within
So kiss a dancer and have a wee little sin

Be united, and show your smiles
That’s how we shall march over all the miles
Defeating those who dare to say
Loving others is not the right way!
