Dancing
Saturday dance, boys, and girls in full flight
the rhythm worked its way through our bodies
tapping a foot, swaying movements
swirl of bodies, colours of dresses
Girls braver than boys, dancing no inhibition
no names just music and movement
smiles and laughter filled the air
a chair once protected from all around me
Many a look and eyes to drown in
the night went on, music flowed
no touching of bodies, just the guidance of hands
just music and the beat of your heart
A hand touches, you freeze not knowing
you join the swirl enjoying the moment
too many faces, knowing most then not
excuse me a moment while I move this aching body of mine
This older age thing has a sting in its tail
age is just a number, how you feel, sometimes fail
tears flow more freely than when younger
memories like film shows cloud our judgment
Now I understand what it is I fear
passing on with a clear conscience
dreams like a film show surround me
no pain experienced just not here anymore
