Dad's Lesson Learned

Although it is he who had his bottom spanked No tears stream down his face It is my handprint that the pain can thank And I am the one who is disgraced His wrong was much lesser than mine As off the handle I did fly I am the one who needs beg forgiveness this time I am the one who has started to cry He says, “I forgive you, Daddy, for getting mad I still love you when your anger shows And I’m sorry for sometimes being bad I try to be good, I hope you know” I hug my boy, a lesson learned A deep breath and count to ten I’m sure a new leaf this dad has turned I’ll take pause before overreacting again

Joe - who of us has not flown off that proverbial handle only to feel the remorse of our actions? Yours is a bitter sweet poem. love, Kathy
