Some folks call me a sausage dog I think they couldn’t be meaner It’s not my fault I’m long and short And look like a misshapen wiener I’ve got four stumpy little legs So my tummy is near to the ground My owner’s take me for a drag not a walk Guess that's why they named me Cigarette! 01~16~15 Contest: Dachshunds – Rob Carmack ~awarded 9th place~ Premiere Contest #13 sponsored by SKAT

Lovely write, Jan! The last two lines round it off beautifully! I always sort of feel sorry for these dogs; they look so friendly, but those short legs must make them feel inferior:( hugs :) // paul

I struggled with the end line called him Cheroot but then changed it to cigarette - its from and old old joke lol:-) Let's hope the judge has a sense of humour lol:-) Hugs Jan xx

Just one suggestion I think it is more lucrative to stop writing free verse and write paid verse. I have been paying all my bills with this form.

Very,very creative, love the line "take me for a drag" then later we find they named the dog Cigarette that is very funny. A Fav!

I originally called him Cheroot then changed it - the joke is very old and actually refers to a dog with no legs - but I couldn't write about that could I !!!:-) Hugs Jan xx
