Curtains of My Heart
With beams of divine illumination
my heart is unveiled from shielding curtains
exposing verities of motive-throbs
surely God can discern
bereft of humanistic favoritism.
Lurking drape of hypocrisy evades from truth’s gleam
while vanity lace lingers
seductively winking in deception
awaiting the cleansing bleach
only the Holy Spirit can fulfill.
Clinging tenaciously is the Venetian blind of arrogance
made heavy by self-righteousness fabric
with virtue-vice threads of dominant scarlet hues
needing the conquering meekness of the Saviour
for humility’s beauty to glow.
Hanging loosely with suffocating shade is frustration jalousie
always ready to engulf heart’s disposition with despair
while soul struggles for hope upon faith’s buttress
oh! how terribly awful is its vexing presence
along loathe some display of condemning* defeat.
Amidst spiritual disclosure through Sovereign enlightenment
my heart is now enjoying freedom from curtain’s coping accessories
while repentantly confessing “just as I am”
thanking the Almighty Lord for His compassion
so I can serve Him and be a blessing to others with all my heart.
*1John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
