Curse In the Night
Like a new babe at life's door
this one last chance at being alive
yet cries for redemption,
I'm really, really, sorry,
but be quiet.
I don't know how to get to you..
you're out now.., at long last.
Free of a wondrous body..,
but you need know,
you must go back.
Will love see it so..
where best willed life outweighs the will never?
And new in undulating hips of forest green
though they didn't mean, never do they..
to step on lively toes
just as I know you regret
scratching out my eyes
that only held love.
No, you didn't give yourself away
your secret remains safe.
Faceless whiskered droop of
jaw.., a pacing black cat
nameless spirit yours,
yet still you share our cause.
For just a moment on..
she looked with eyes full wide in wonder
"Destiny is mine to play, A tune I know well"
it lives without and within
free of hereditary sin.
The shriek and moan of wind
where once your castle doors stood strong
now bent and broken in
deep in the bones, a chill
the mantel o'er a familiar fireplace
creaks and groans still.
The smallest voice whispered quietly in Autumns ear,
with almost nary a tear..
as hounds of hell were made to hear
the fell sound
"there's no longer a place for me here".
We walked the hedgerow as two co-conspirators
wi' that old familiar lust, those feelings
thought we'd lost
well, what do you know
like ghost of past,
they've returned.
