Cupid's Illusion

Cupid’s illusion It's one charm and unending allure- The promise of a joy devoid of pain Contentment and peace; so secure An illusion - your dream, your bane. From its delusions of timeless bliss Time and again, will rear it's head; A thousand arrows, each with a hiss Pain zipping, piercing, till joy is dead. All of yesterday’s loves gone wrong, Many a fear - shackled loving heart Bound by misery to the bottom rung Recalls in a masterpiece of movie art. You then fear, may never seize to drip The eyes, with which you daily behold If, of the other, your heart loses its grip - The sweet soul to whom you lost hold. Truly, if you seek its peace in perpetuity To sail it's happiness’ wave at the crest You must eternally labour for its gratuity- A labour that’s pleasing and offers no rest. March 31, 2018
