Cupid's Darts

Cupid's Darts Youthful charms, perfect manners on display, I met my only son's first girlfriend today. All of the emotions at young loves doorway Sparkled in their eyes, an innocent array. Cupid carefully aimed a downpour of darts. Sugary dreams fell upon two sweethearts. Sparkles of love-beams crystallized in quartz Trusting forever held its grip on young hearts. I, burdened by fears and memories shipwrecked. Pray, dear Lord, please let good virtue protect. Wishing their courtship reciprocal respect. Two seeking soul mates for marriage select. Cherished with honor, future lifetime love Attains eternal marriage in God's courts above. © Dane Ann Smith-Johnsen May 31, 2010 Poetic form: Sonnet

Parents always have worries that their children will be hurt in love, but your son seems like a fine man and from what you've told me he makes good choices. As a member of our military, he deserves special respect and admiration today to go along with our wishes for true love. God bless your family. Love, Carolyn

Nice poem, I can only imagine how the mother feels to see her sons focus shifting to another. As a father I know how it felt when my daughter went on her first date. Well written piece as always.
