Crosses On The Side Of The Road

Crosses on the side of the road;
Belief in passengers goes by —
Where wrecked light within flowers grow,
Crosses on the side of the road
That besides the glass window hold,
A memory's attest to time —
Crosses on the side of the road,
Belief in passengers goes by —

I feel the sadness, PH. The emotion brings the message. Very effective use of symbol of cross in this poem. The form suits poem & title is clear, powerful & effective. This is a beautiful line : “ Where wrecked light within flowers grow,”. An update of this poem could draw a closer connection between crosses, time, memory & death. It would make need for responsibility clearer ie. your intentions stated in “belief in passengers...” Have a beautiful day, dear Poet. Xx

we have several similar sites here, especially along the state hwy...it's a dangerous road, especially for young, inexperienced drivers.

Candles & flowers mark a death had occurred in that spot, should we not forget that the roads are dangerous. Also are the white crosses along the crossroads, military mostly. Intensities shared with us. Paige, wishing you have a Happy New Year!

I can sense the flicker of the light, the sad happening. We had such a thing occur here in late 1990’s. The incident made early “Court TV,” and even Oprah Winfrey. Funerals were at a Nextdoor church. So sad. My daughter was in high school and knew the girls.
