Society's perception and reality change over time for sure. Much to ponder from your exploration of then and now, Anil.

Offenders should be apprehended, punished, and compelled to make reparations if at all feasible. This will be perfect because we all understand it may not exist. Thanks for writing such a thought-provoking poem.

Punishment? Retribution? Revenge? Compassion? A crime if serious deserves a punishment, perhaps prison.

Yes, Victor, Jesus's "gory" death on the Cross teaches, inter alia, someone pays/ serves the sentence ( for sinners). Hence, we have forensic righteousness. God doesn't seek making justice null & void. Grace came at His huge cost

Great stuff Anil, today one word defines logic, 'SORRY' and all is forgiven.. is that all those to whom crucified Christ, needed to say if it happened today i wonder?

No, Sir, Jesus never taught " cheap grace and forgiveness." In Matthew 23, He warned us "brood/s/ of vipers" won't escape hell. In James's Epistle, see: FAITH WITHOUT GOOD WORKS IS DEAD, esp. James 1:27. His herald, John Baptizer, first preached "Repent you vipers." Matthew 3, and verse 8: " produce fruit in keeping with repentance." Many bad preachers today, also told us in Timothy
