Crazy Heart
You might not understand
If you've never hit the dirt
Just being a lesser man
A shadow of what you were
It messes with your will
So writing songs that sell
Are like climbing up the a hill
Then falling down a well
You can't ever get a grasp
On what matters the most
Sewing seeds of the past
Your happy just to coast
Then the silver flask ran dry
You hope you'll never miss it
That love you lost was blind
You miss her friendly spirit
But your crazy heart is bold
It's pure and kind and sober
Your heart, mind and soul
Will finally win her over
(I watched Crazy heart and felt akin to the movie's subject matter. I then wrote this down and wanted to share my view- seeing there was a Contest about your favorite actor, I joined PS and submitted this poem)
