Crazy Cat Lady

The cat rules our house, and she has us well trained:
We jump at the sound of her slightest complaint.
The day starts at six when I hear her loud cry,
Her pitiful wailing. I run to find why.
Queen passive-aggressive, she sits there and stares
Until I feel guilty. She silently glares.
I check on her food – only half full the dish!
I pour her fresh water. That wasn’t her wish;
She still has that look! In the bathroom I check:
The litter box maybe? Yes, there is a speck.
I scoop and I clean, and she, pleased, walks away—
She just wants it nice to use later today.
She squeezes right next to me onto my chair,
My pants and my sweater get covered in hair.
But she is so sweet and has such a soft fur,
And I like to stroke her, and hear her cute purr.
She made me become what I swore not to be:
The crazy cat lady- I think that is me.

Agnes, I can certainly relate, in our house Fudge-stripe, our 11 year old short haired tabby tiger rules the roost and bosses our 85lb Boxer around - it's really comical! I adored your great write and enjoyed beautiful your content and rhymes.. Warmest wishes ~Susan

I actually saw THIS reply you returned to me. How finicky your cat is. There is some commercial for finicky cats but I forgot which canned cat food it is.

Your kitty sounds just like mine. So many times she'll stare at me and meow. "What do you want," I ask...as if she'll answer. Very nice write, Agnes.

Hey cat lady, said this cat lady, another feline lover. Yours appears to have some siamese? I have four, a Chocolate Siamese, a Black Angora, and 2 American mixer-uppers, one solid gray, the other of gray dots and stripes is still a baby. My poem is LOOSELY based on their traits, combined with my beloved and now departed Calico. I didn't mean to ramble on, your poem just made me feel so cat-at-home! I enjoyed the read very much! All the best ... CayCay
