Notes About The Poem

Courtesy Counts

I'd like to visit you, but well
you never visit me
what happened to that courtesy
called reciprocity?

This is a debatable topic, Eileen. I make it a point to reciprocate every visit that I get; I would feel bad if I didn't. It is precisely for this reason that for several days I don't post any poems at all...that gives me time to catch up with as many people as possible. Of course, I understand that people have lots to do and their time is limited, so I don't expect them to work miracles! Hugs // paul

A great topic for discussion ... I always try my best to respond back, but for one reason or another, it can also get overwhelming at times. There are some folks at Soup that I read and comment quite a bit, even though I know they almost never do the same for me ... oh well ... their poetry ends up pulling me in, regardless. I'm a bit OCD, sometimes, about how and when, I read and comment ... maybe it's something I need to work on!

Hey, you! I know you're busy. You've actually been better to me than I've been to you...so no worries! I know time is limited. Thanks for the visit. Sending hugs all the way to your neck of the woods.

Like a small version of what I say in some of my poems. Much better when succinct I say!!! Awesome, Eileen.

It is best to give without expectation. We are all way too human to visit everyone, every day. Best intentions would require making an actual job of PS. BUT, I do understand the feeling - we have all been on both sides of this emotion! All the best, Sweetie ... CayCay

Awwwww....dear, I have a new "Bible verse"....Love, inasmuch as ye have been loved. I know it's not the true way, but sometimes....you get tired of giving and not getting back. I'm learning where to best invest my time, love, and friendship. It's called...survival! :) Hugs

I think we are all guilty at times. Whether it is time constraints, we are consumed by inspiration, or being pulled away by life, etc, it happens. We can only try harder. Lovely reminder Eileen.

I know, dear. I am myself guilty. Especially with newcomers. Sometimes I don't remember the name, and if I don't do it right away....it slips my mind. I'm talking about constantly visiting someone and not getting one response back. Perhaps stop reading? ;) Thanks for the visit. Hugs

I do too, dear. It's a reminder to all of us. I know some lovely people who visit three poems for every one comment you post. Lovely people.... :)

It happens, sometimes it is just because of time and lack there of. This is a catchy little write and should be read as a gentle reminder or community. Hugs xx

Reciprocity is a good word.. There are times when I feel let down like at Christmas..I send my Christmas cards and greetings to friends on the isle, but some dnt even say thanks. It happens in our daily lives. At times it happens on soup too.At times it even happens to me..I ll have in mind to read Tom ,Paul and ann..And I forget Ann..Yes a great topic about respecting eachother dear.

Yes, dear....we are all struggling with other commitments and time constraints. I'm talking about consistently trying to connect and having no response. Perhaps it's best to let be? I always welcome your visits and comments. Love you.
