The Love Embrace of the Universe, the Earth (Mexico), Me, & Senor Xolotl
Artist Frida Kahlo 1949

“I hope the exit is joyful and I hope never to return”  Frida Kahlo

COSMIC EMBRACE -:- Frida Kahlo

I dive headfirst into Masonite’s wood fibers
 compressed baked & primed
blending boundaries of life,
lightning and death’s
cycle of pain in paint
as a path to tranquility treading
through inner turmoil of vibrancy
A hummingbird in her shell breaks away
the triaged torment
for a moment, quietus cabaret on
cacti untamed canvas
conveys an observer in one’s
own collard greens
Tehuana traditional gown
from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec
ripe reds & burnt orange

Oiled in, the gods Xolotl,
 guard dog portrayed
Aztec god & fertility goddess
Motherly milky way
flanking figures,
a fiery orb of the sun
& the cool, silvery moon
dualities of balance

Fresco muralist Diego Rivera
cuddled infantile by Kahlo,
adorns a frontal lobe’s
opened third eye
& wears Buddha’s mouth
 apprises of oriental wisdom
both his & hers
 naïve folk art
enveloped in a cosmic
love embrace of the universe

Wow Anaya, you write this form so well, I've not seen anyone write this form like you... Your interpretation of the painting is profound and descriptive, if I had not seen the paining, your magical word weaving would create a vivid image.. so many wonderful descriptive lines and a very impressive use of vocabulary... An excellent choice for a painting and wonderful poetry my friend.. Peace and blessings..

What I've done here, is intertwine two of the sponsors own forms, The Deeswheat & another verse version he uses~ Frida artworks are deeply autobiographical, exploring themes of pain, identity and resilience heavily infulenced be her lifelong battle with chronic illness........

Ty, Silent One, its funny you should say that, each sponsor has there own idea of an ekra., Here is this sponsors opinion... As my premier contest results reveal the EKPHRASIS is much to my poetic tastes. My wide interpretation of EKPHRASIS extends beyond a piece of art to include the artist ,their styles of art ,history of art AND MUSIC& similar creativity.

Wow! This is so creative and inspiring. “Oiled in, the gods Xolotl, guard dog portrayed Aztec god & fertility goddess Motherly milky way flanking figures, a fiery orb of the sun & the cool, silvery moon dualities of balance” Words marry the image and create this lovely presentation Anaya! Love this and fav!

I believe there is so much soul to give in the ekphrasis & not just swarms of alliterations, though all good~ I see your doing OKay? Dear Karen, I'll be there to read your uniqueness in words soon. Ty!!!!
