Corridor

Open the door, get out of that room, What are you scared of? Aren’t you alone? The corridor! do you see? Walk along The carpet, the walls, the painting of the bird in flight! Absorb them, soak up the vintage scent. Believe me! Do not suspect the words of my encounters! But oh! Why do you stroll like a lifeless spirit? Where’s that vigor? Where is your glow? The pain in your eyes, why the warm wounds crackle By the embers of your grimmest reflections? Is the carpet hurting your feet? It’s all made of the softest feathers. Look at the wallpaper on the walls! The fabric’s bathed in the desires of spring flowers. And the bird in the portrait? It's flying! Don’t worry! It’s not trapped within the wooden frame, It’s immortalized freedom. What shall I do to ease your chaos? How can I make you look through my eyes? My thoughts, my perspective, To make you admire your reality, The unearthed gems of your artistic means? Then would you have appreciated more The wallpaper? The carpet? The fragrance of the corridor? I know I am insane, but I welcome the truth, So, you should too! Be silly, be daring! Let the cracks on your crystalline soul signify the designs Of the life you lived! So, get out of that room, walk the long corridor! You see no end? Fear not! Walk ahead, smell the wallpaper Feel the carpet. And as you walk, find those fragments of courage To tear the wallpaper off! And don’t be surprised when you see what lies beyond! K.S.Lakshmi
