I revised my poem a lot, because I had to see some really good facts to get the whole picture about the situation and why it is so necessary to take the precautions told us right away!! Here is a link to a great article just put out March 20 by the CDC.

https://www.howardluksmd.com/sports-medicine/covid-19-update-3-14-2020-concerned-physicians-unite/

There’s a thing called Corona that’s going around, and the yakety-yak of it’s bringing folks down, for it’s not like some circus that’s coming to town! If you turn on your telly, you’ll probably hear lots of news shows predicting this virus is near, and the airports stand empty from everyone’s fear. Just a week ago one of my friends only paid twenty dollars for a standard flight that he made. I say THAT’S taking lemons to make lemonade! I'd say hop on a plane for perhaps a low fee; now however, that's nixed by new rules that I see. Just take walks with your dog or stay in for your safety Perhaps you'll go out. Put a mask on your face! and a handiwipe's great so that you can erase pesky germs that are lurking in every space. While your neighbors are running like crazy to buy extra paper for wiping their precious behinds, go to Amazon. There a bidet you can find! Everything is now closed. If it's not far away, pay a visit to Mom (if allowed). and l say try to think of your lockdown as some fun "stay-cay!" Whatever you do, please stop buying Purell. Leave that stuff for the folks who are truly unwell, and please leave on the shelves toilet paper for sale! Yes, a person could die, but folks die from the flu! Just eat healthy, be cautious; that’s all you can do. It is not the Black Plague that is coming for you! Odds of dying from it - I believe - aren't THAT bad. Many many events are now cancelled; it’s sad. But have faith it will pass, like the Saggy Pants fad! March 13, 2020 For Nina Parmenter's A Rattling Rhyme 2 Poetry Contest Re-entering contest because in light of new information I have learned since writing this poem, I felt the need to make major changes to some of my lines.

A great write Andrea, rather cheeky and humorous, and I must admit I have wondered whether the cure may be worse than the disease. The governor just gave shelter in place orders for Florida.

Terrific poem Andera, you captured the gist of what has been happening around the world. Awesome read. Hugs

So this grows ironic, cynical and meaningfully sarcastic. I enjoyed the way you built up and strengthened each couplet—one following the next in non-contrived fashion instead of growing more tedious as is often the case with this form. Congratulations on enduring to the end. Most enjoyable and worthy of its read.

I like your updates, especially the ones regarding staying home from travel and buying a bidet! We all have to be careful not to convey old news or false information. The encouragement not to hoard is well spoken also. Wait, saggy pants aren't cool anymore? Why wasn't I told, haha! ~ John

Hi Andrea, The coronavirus is a dreadful worldwide epidemic. It’s dubbed the “ invisible “ enemy? That has no respect of person’s, it doesn’t matter the race, gender, religion or age. Should we panic like chicken little ( the sky is falling)? Probably not, but we must do all we can to safe. Like washing the hands, stay home and not congregate with large crowds. I see this placing well in the contest. Good luck. Have a good weekend my friend:-) Alexis

I think Vegas will be closing things too. All the bars and restaurants are closing here, in Hilo where my daughter's mate works. She still has work so far. I thought this poem was clever and well written Andrea. I will have to email you with some funny stories. Hope you enjoyed St. Patrick's Day! Has your school closed up? All my grandkids don't have school now. xxoo

It is such a crazy time and your poem has "nailed" the feelings of fear and greed.

Hi Andrea, love your poem, good to see you sound more positive than a lot of us - well penned my friend and good luck in the two contests. I also wrote a Corona virus poem but silly me did not look at the contests. Blessings, Jennifer.

yes, it's REALLY bad for the elderly, and also my husband, who has asthma. I worry for him since we both are out in the public working.

Most excellent! My goodness...if it was like the black plague no one’s attention would be on the shelves...eeks! Be safe, dear friend! For this contest I entered, Swept Up By Illusions.

Very relevant, Andrea. It's a lighthearted look at a big scare around the world. We could use some humor now.

Andrea, I would love to take a plane to see family and friends. Though it was likely flights that brought the virus to our shores in the first place. Must set in order with all we love, just in case. We feel bad for those who've been afflicted by illness, whether it flu, back pain, or gout, or ?. Praying for all of you to be well, just in case you don't feel well today. -Richard

just don a mask and go for it. The planes are nearly empty from what I hear!! and I bet they are sterilizing them constantly.

Andrea, my good friend offered me a roll of TP for $99. That's after the friend discount - it's $100 for everyone else, haha! Laughter is the best medicine... great rattling rhyme!

Well expressed. I think it’s good to be cautious but I think the current panic is over the top.

The sights and sounds in your poem are true to life as I see and feel it every day--well written, as always, Andrea. Not sure I will take that flight right now, no matter how cheap (Disney is closed anyway)!
