Corner Boy

Wonderous creations Flowing across nations Filled with positive vibrations That would lead down a path of negativity Once Intune with one another Unified by a dream Each Hoping to achieve What it is resting eyes see But The shine of the bright Skylines at night Not as beautiful as they seem Down upon the concrete Traveling speeds that rival sunlight Adapting to everything Dreams of an opulent life High hopes Palming the globe Unconsciously Uncoscoulslbly Dropping dimes Upon Encampment homes That rest 90 degrees Recklessly Risking the vessel Blessed unto thee Yearning to be free From such a harsh reality Instinctively aware of The differences in men When Riches have been obtained How briskly the change Distant the mind strays As it recognizes invidual survival The emotion that motivates that change Learning to trust no man The hard way Ten toes in Wading in the deep to the neck Gone are the unified men who once dreamed such a simple dream In the beginning Now scheming for themselves Turning coats Loyal only to the Amassing passive dividens Survival of the fittest But only the shiftiest survive So it seems By any means Willing to do whatever it takes To escape from poverty Up all night Stressed through out the day Too ashamed to admit How you wished to live life such a different way Try as you may Unable to visualize any other way So outside you stay Trapped in such a deadly game Unable to truly find joy Corner boy

Richard, your poem is a profoundly moving exploration of the struggles and dreams of a young man caught in a harsh reality. The raw emotion and the vivid imagery make it a truly compelling read. - Blessings, Daniel
