Conversations With My 16-Year-Old Self

After so much suppression I think that its time To indulge in the lighthearted Comfort in rhyme Outside the sun shines On the green grass I sleep The birds sing so happily And I start to weep But my tears spell relief Not sadness or pain For when you’re finally gone I’ll sleep in peace again Close my eyes and dream Of the day I’ll be free I’ve been you for so long No chance to be me You’ve cost me a lot More than I could give In a few week’s you’ll abandon me With a new chance to live I suppose it’ll be alright It’s better this way I’ve done it before I do it every day So as our days run away Faster and faster I’ll sit back, and sing In the face of disaster
