Contentment
Apparent and serene,
Will it show a face?
Will I ever know
That gentle, calming place?
A time when life is still,
No murmurs in my soul—
A shroud of endearment
That makes me feel so whole.
The worries of the past,
The lines upon my brow,
The evidence of pressure
I managed through somehow.
Perhaps I just acknowledge
And accept it as it is.
Looking all around me,
The world’s a different place.
Far from past imagination,
With endless years ahead—
The lessons learned by autumn,
Too late and filled with regret.
No point in gazing back;
Lament is wasted fuel.
It’s the part of the show
Where the crescendo must rule.
Blessings to count—
Just watch the news.
The time and the place
I was given by fate.
Appreciate now,
Before it’s too late.
