synthetic heaven taking hold changing all that's lucid, cold down the gut or down the drain coursing throbs to burst a vein (bent to quell a wretched pain) neural tap dance, bloody bold ... dangled digits - dancing doll damp, the skin, a fetid crawl lines of white to tingle, thus in the nostrils, dirtied dust (fevers do what fevers must) cordially, then climb the wall ... skin as pale as pallid moon gals drape alabaster swoon chemicals, tho wildly worse sipping bubbly from a purse (coy to craft a college verse) sinless, she'll be sullied soon ... manic madness found a shell every potion kings could sell spending senses on each one pounding pulses, just for fun (hungers hotter than the sun) banished aptly straight to Hell ... lived, have I, a passion's dream dancing short of Hades' seam wisdom, more or less my own sucking marrow from the bone (shy the debts I've yet to own) due whatever fortune deems ... pain more horrid than it seems (death as dark as devil dreams). ~ 1st Place ~ in the "Contamination" Poetry Contest, Kai Michael Neumann, Judge & Sponsor.

Oh my. Such great lines... "Down the gut...", "Lines of white..." each verse has it's brilliance. A dark write... haunting. Congratulations on your win. Well done!

That's very kind of you, Susan, I'm so pleased you enjoyed this one! The edgy dark and the coyly sensual are my favorite genres to write in, (not the graphic stuff), but not everyone appreciates them, so it's a once-in-a-while thing. Thank you so much! :-) <3

Indeed - I agree, Paul, and I have found much catharsis and healing there - by going to those painful places and turning those fears and experiences into something creative and (hopefully) beautiful! Well-said and thank you - so pleased you liked it! :-)

Thank you so very much, Janice - I'm so pleased you liked this one! The "dark" pieces don't always get a lot of love, but there is so much healing and catharsis for me in these writes - going to a difficult or painful place and turning it to something creative and beautiful. I so appreciate those who see beyond the darkness ... those who realize that there are stars sparkling in that night sky! :-) <3

Wow, what dark imagery in THIS one, Gregory. Quite striking this is. I wish I could read more of your latest poems, but I need to start hubbie's dinner and want to thank you for the several nice comments on my poems. Have a wonderful Monday!

Ah - the priorities of daily life - if only we could live in this poetic dream world all the time - live as we write! I take care of my elderly parents, and very little writing/commenting time of late ... I also seem to be struggling for muses recently, though it's usually just a stage. Thank you for the kind comments as usual, my friend! :-)

"Pain more horrid than it seems/(Death as dark as devil dreams)," oh my, my friend, you have gone all dark on me, where's the cheery ole Greg? I understand, times get rough and dark on us and we see only the darkness of putrid death! I do understand as I've been there before too my friend! Though each of us has something different that we have experienced, the darkness is still the same! I really enjoyed reading this incredible poem this morning! What a fabulous piece, Great Work!!

Thanks so much, my very good friend! These dark ones are very cathartic for me and bring a lot of healing ... they're also my favorite genre, I think, especially the sensual ones. Very happy you liked this, Brother! :-)
