Consequence of Power

He shamed, he criticized everything Nothing at all was ever good enough He taught, he tested the pressure, did sting He pushed the perfection and being tough Conditional love, unable to reach Nothing at all was every good enough His way of living was having to teach All about power, competition too Conditional love, unable to reach The only way was to quit, to get through He thrived to win, but failure was instilled All about power, competition too To survive it all, one must be strong willed One must find self to overcome it all He thrived to win, but failure he instilled His actions finally led him to fall He shamed and criticized everything One must find self to overcome it all He taught, he tested the pressure, did sting Heidi Sands 7/29/19

There are many like him, I think we've all known at least one. Well penned.

"He shamed and criticized everything" - so sad, and yet, so often true of certain people who never fully get away from their need to control others. Nice one, Heidi. Heartfelt and true.

Profound clear message to all those who wish to succeed no matter what the consequences. To succeed by one's means is an admirable thing But to succeed by trying to destroy others is something unholy! Excellent dearest, Heidi!

as a survivor of child-abuse, there is a coldness instilled that never leaves, maybe it's just a barrier from remembered pain

Nothing was good enough for him..there are people who push the boundaries..as well meaning as they may be, in the end they do not succeed. Many can relate to someone you depicted in your poem, Heidi.
