Confounded Contest

I hate it that you don't like what I write
You'd think at least one time I'd get it right
I get first place with others, never you
Won't join another one, that's what I will do

Consistently put down, oh what a drain!
I find your selectivity a pain!
Most others think my writes are pretty cool
But when I write for you, I'm just a fool

Well, here's to let you know that I am done
Cause entering your contests sure ain't fun
I squeeze my brain in hopes to win your smile
But I get tossed right out on rubbish pile

I'll gloat and savor every winning place
From one to three are ones that light my face
From 4 on down, you freaking kidding me????
Dear contest sponsor, you are HISTORY!

This was a bit of a rant which has been brewing for a while. I've touched on this subject before, so it's nothing new to me. I just don't join that many contests and all is fine. I join when I trust the sponsor and think I may have a chance to do well. Some sponsors I test. When I consistently don't do well...I know they don't like my style. Why bother...That's just me. I appreciate your visit.

It is those N/A's that leave me feeling lost, scratching my head, wondering why, when I got so many great comments? It is all relative I suppose. Maurice Yvonne January 7, 2015 at 6:22 PM One to three is a first place win. Four to ten is a second place win. HM's and below ten don't count for much. Not placing at all guess I forgot to enter. Such is life, poetry is subjective. If I like the theme I enter I have a lot of favs on a couple of my losers, I'll take those in spades any day. I know I shouldn't let it get to me but after repeated entries to the same judges, it becomes to difficult and I don't wish to think bad of them or myself. Contests should be a celebration where we present our inspiration's work, not on demand, but as it comes: freely. Myself do not take part in contests, not that they are bad , no, not at all, they are good if they are done for the right reason: The glorification of poetry, without hurting anyone!
