Confession

I can’t be here for you Only when you’re unable to speak, When you can’t sleep; When you want someone to fall at your feet. When you want me to watch you as you ease, Out of your dress and reach, To pull me underneath. When we forget how to breathe; When I call out to all the gods I don’t need. When you first led me up to your room, I thought that it was finally you. In spite of what I already knew, She’s someone that will use; She’s someone I will lose. Goddesses always assume. That I’ll still be there when they leave; When they need someone to get on their knees. I can no longer pretend That this is any more than for show. I wanted you to know— I do not love you; I need you to go. I do not love you; I need you to go.
