Completely Different
Its so hard to be different in many ways unique, fresh, oblique
Confronting not conforming, defying not complying
Requires courage, conviction, confidence to be out there upfront emboldened.
Shedding the safe garments of compliance, the safe hat and cloak of correctness.
It is akin to stepping outside of yourself to act independent of the trappings
To speak freely from the head not the the heart, which is tied down with strings that quell free expression.
Completely different is totally new, on a fresh new page, on a new topic, on a clean slate.
Shred the drag of dead wood, prune away the old and let the new shoots grow.
Make something completely different, in every way unique and unencumbered.
A bouncing, bobbling, flipping, flopping boat flops about on waves
Rocking to and fro, up and down, side to side, incessant motion
On-board you find it hard to focus as horizon surges and slides like sea-saw up and down
Bamboozling your attempts to focus, think and write.
The pen and paper slip up and slide down the desk in the galley of 'Against all Odds'.
The challenge to write a sea shanty, on board, at sea, was now all at sea.
Thoughts and ideas a jumble, pen held a fumble, pages all a crumble.
Sea-saw, heave pen to write a word a wave
Pick the crest when boat is fleeting level
Jot the scrawl, recall the flotsam gem of thought
From jumble of words awash in sea-sick brain
Fist down hard to hold the paper as boat wildly rocks
Fingers locked on pen, poised to write when next crest second of calm comes.
Sea Shanty
Go with it, dance with it
Rock ye waves, roll ye swell
Enjoy the sea saw ride on waves
Rock a bye, lullaby, roll on by each swell
The first day is worst, seasick churn
Rock ye waves, roll ye swell
But gut settles, food stays down
Rock a bye, lullaby, roll on by each swell
You learn to step attuned with swell
Rock ye waves, roll ye swell
To move and do your work and tasks with ease
Rock a bye, lullaby, roll on by each swell
Your body learns to anticipate the surge
Rock ye waves, roll ye swell
Coping becomes second nature, subconscious
Rock a bye, lullaby, roll on by each swell
Strange that when you return to shore
Rock ye waves, roll ye swell
You rock for days, especially in the shower
Rock a bye, lullaby, roll on by each swell
