Compartmentalization, as a curse is looming large, As men in toto are fragmented into groups or sects On grounds of caste, creed, sex or political affiliations Branding some as powerful or weak or the corn and the chaff Men or women, black or white, they are one, And should be treated alike, without any scorn. While men hold the sceptre of power, women stay marginalized. Under their chauvinistic hold, they often get suffocated. East or West, women are greatly stressed. Concede it or not, they are beguiled n' oppressed. For women of the East, it has been far tougher for centuries. In some places, a girl child even struggles to be born. The mother’s womb can turn her sepulchre. Once born, no guarantee for survival Fate like a haunting falcon with claws sharp and eyes intent, Targets and preys on her. Like a piece of organic garbage, Unscrupulous hands may hurl her to the bin, Or is bundled and cast on railway tracks, Or discarded on crowded platforms! If she out lives this, still vultures may circle round, To feed on her flesh, raw and red. No oracle or miracle, could ever change her life None knows what awaits her or what’s her fate Amid these daunting odds, she grabs life’s better moments Raise happy kids, keep the family intact Stick to the wedlock, be it a loop or a lock Like a balanced acrobat, she does the tight rope walk For the storms that rage without, to her, is less insidious. Rarely is she tossed by the unseasonal blizzards. A society progresses where walls are crushed down Where all segregations are lifted and unity prevails And men and women, the rich and the poor Live and work in tandem, respecting one another!

"In some places, a girl child even struggles to be born. The mother’s womb can turn her sepulchre. Once born, no guarantee for survival Fate like a haunting falcon with claws sharp and eyes intent" - This is very much true in English. A very realistic picture of compartmentalization is drawn. Congratulations!

This utopia would be the answer to all the world's problems, Valsa but what about the greedy ones who have got a safety net to always catch them so they become millionaires and billionaires at the expense of the vulnerable - its really very sad indeed - no respect for the poor and most unfortunately their future totally uncertain.

In a world untainted by divisions, harmony reigns supreme, as individuals of all backgrounds, be it gender or socioeconomic status, coexist in unison, their mutual respect serving as a guiding principle. This ethereal tapestry of aspirations, which resides within the hearts of many, remains an elusive reality, ever yearned for. Your verse has captivated my soul, and I offer my heartfelt congratulations on your well-deserved win. Having returned from a brief hiatus, I am delighted to reconnect.

True discrimination against woman in Asian countries. Times are changing and woman are getting ahead of man with new technologies.

Sad plight for woman still in some countries but even in those that are more "civilized" the differences in the sexes still are great. I enjoyed this very intelligent work very much. Thanks for sharing and for dropping by my page. Sara

We humans love putting people in "boxes Your poem exposes all the area that people are herded into segregated compartments. I see one title for all people. All in one box Your poem said it perfectly Valsa. We ALL belong in the HUMAN box. Such a lovely poem. You are a very wise "human" Valsa.

Thanks a lot SV for your lovely comment. In many parts of the world, there is segregation and compartmentalisation. I always love to see human beings treated alike. As children of God we are all alike. It was with much apprehension that I posted this. But seeing your comment I feel happy.

Thank you so much Rose for your comment. In fact I posted this with great diffidence wondering if it could be called a poem or merely some fragmented thoughts. Your comment is much appreciated.
