Notes About The Poem

Come Write For Me

Come write for me, and let your words be known
Don't keep them locked inside, undressed by voice
For long your thoughts to dungeon you have thrown
Oh, set them free, and let my heart rejoice

Don't hoard your bounty of the purest gold
which holds your thoughts, your dreams, your treasure trove
I beg of you to let your heart be bold
and lead me to that peaceful inner cove

I long to rest awhile and hear the sea
the gentle lapping of your metered rhyme
I need to dip my soul in poetry
and feel the rush of waves unbound by time

Come write for me, and let my mind explore
The beauty of those words I so adore

Eileen

An excellent, smooth flowing sonnet, Eileen. You and sonnets were made for one another, and this one proves it. It also shows your love for poetry. Very expressive that final couplet which both implores and invites. May poetic satisfaction come your way ...food for life! Hugs // paul

Oh wow...this is just so lovely, Eileen! No wonder this is the POTD! I've enjoyed your blog where you introduced the sonnet to your students and I see this could sustain their interest. Bet they'll be thrilled! Your poetry is lovely as is your genuine interest in your students' learning. hugs!

Thanks, dear. I have shared some of my poems with my students, but this isn't one of them and had nothing to do with classwork. I have fallen in love with sonnets and find that I best express myself through them. :) Thanks for the lovely post. I enjoyed catching up on all the POTD posts yesterday. I got to read and post on several lovely writes...yours included. Stay blessed, dear.

OH.....thanks, Heather. I'm old school. I'm not into enjambment...I can't get the hang of imagery that is out of the ordinary. I'm very limited in that way though I have honestly tried. The sonnet comes from the pounding of my heart. Iambic Pentameter the same...I just love it. Thanks for your beautiful post, sweet. Hugs.

I'm so glad you are writing again now. I was a bit worried when you didn't post a new poem for a while, and I'm so happy to know that you have. I did read it, dear. I will go there to post a comment. I was lying in bed at the time and couldn't be bothered to fiddle with my phone to post. Hugs, Richard. Glad your Muse is working....

"I need to dip my soul in poetry and feel the rush of waves unbound by time" These beautiful lines resonate with many poets I am sure!!! The exploration of words...ah..such reverie... I'm adding this to my favorites! :) Always, Laura

Laura, you always have kind comments for me, and I do appreciate that so very much. I'm glad you enjoyed this piece. I was unable to write for a time and was glad when this finally came to me. I almost lost it, but I'm glad I was able to reconstruct it before the words slipped away forever. Thanks for the visit, dear. Hugs. :)

From my treasures I have found a word for you soft red in sound, strong and plump in velvet ground, the thump and thump of my love's pound...you are pretty in your plead for rare and sweet poetry Eileen. A great poem, and your tastes in paintings is superb, its as if you have an artist that lives to paint only you Beloved Poetess...J.A.B.

:) Hello, Eagle. Nice to have you visit me and with such a lovely post as well. You have commented on my pics before. I tell you, Justin...it's almost as sweet as writing the words. I'm passionate about photos, paintings, and drawings. Art moves me. Beauty moves me. I try to find pics that at least have some sort of resemblance to what I'm trying to portray. I'm so glad you like it. To know that you have words for me to enjoy is a treat, my dear. Hugs
