Colour of My Heart-2

Colour of my heart


Seeds of animosity   are planted
In virgin soil of the innocent mind
Seedlings should not be taken for granted
inseminating hate's a complex crime

Secrets and cruel intentions of the heart
lay dormant for years, rarely manifest
Conscience and propriety tear apart
uprooted by some calamitous test

Colour adorns beauty and elegance
Awakening an impartial spirit
Whispering words of change to indifference
Hoping hungry, humble hearts hear it

An indigent heart prefers monochrome
'Cause ignorance is all it's ever known!

I was writing a sonnet super late the other night (like 4am brain dead late) in which I attempted to use the word "indigent" but instead wasted about 2 hours walking around trying to decide which of its syllables is stressed. I don't know why that word sticks in my crawl so much but I'm saying it out loud again now and feel all the more stupid for it. Thank you for that. Indigent is a great word, I don't know why I ended up using it, it's not a common use word these days, but you know the muse, strange things happen sometimes!
