Collapsed

Clenched palms and bloodied fists from the tenderest lips, you once kissed Eyes glistening for the diamonds that fall Wondering why I feel so small Wondering if I should feel at all The nails I've bit down past the skin Leave me wearing blood, like an apron Held up by the threads, I chew them away So I may float to the earth, in utter dismay And these palms you see, these mangled wrists the heart strings torn away by the lips you kissed are the consequences I've paid time and again for taking to heart all the cruel things you've ever said
