Collaboration With Chris Green-Forbidden
Another lonesome highway
One hundred empty streets
Unending broken detours
Each turn my vast defeats
I fear an early winter
The snow is ten feet tall
Can barely see my breathing
While others have it all
I run after sidewalk cracks
And land in the dirt
Leaves keep falling
It’s just another hurt
Shards of glass on the road
Tell me I can’t go first
Barbed wire on my skin
I know it leaves me cursed
An uphill path I follow
My weary legs are sore
Atop the highest mountain
I can not take much more
When then a thin horizon
Illuminates the sea
Much more than I imagine
Unfolds in front of me
Bigger than my nightmares
Bigger than my dreams
A tiny speck of heaven
Is ripping at the seams
I know when I stand here
I interrupt something hidden
I want to embrace the waves
But the quiet has forbidden
So I'll just keep on walking
For now I understand
That there is so much waiting
Out in this promised land
Somewhere beyond the arbor
Beneath these skies of blue
My days are now spent dreaming
In hopes some will come true
