Cold Sweats and Tears
I woke in a debilitating fright-
Cold sweats and tears;
Night after night-
My subconscious played on my fears.
It wasn't short lived...
In fact, it went on for years..
The fear was undoubtedly real
As was the pain;
I begged it to yield,
But still it remained.
I had sought an escape,
From what had seemed to me-
As my irrefutable fate;
But oftentimes I'd been too late.
