The Whiskey Taster’s Flavor Guide

Coffee House

My coffee, my house,
   cinnamon and hint of clove
in a full bodied french roast...
 acrid, bitter, pungent deliciousness
 wafts thought the air
before even the eyes are open
         the buzz of conversation over
             the tinkling of spoons stirring
the clanking of cup on saucer
                  the shooshing of steamy cream
                         into cappuccino
 a lush, rich aroma,
 with the feeling of rightness
            around the edges
like a cozy blanket of comfort
                    wrapping around your shoulders
 Sipping in silence,
      watching the sunrise,
simple serenity to start the day.

A beautiful and simple poem. Your use of white space to contribute to meter is awesome. Your patience to work with this site's posting capabilities is to be applauded. Another great read.

I love a good coffee poem, Trudy. The best part of this poem is the imagery that surrounds rich aroma you penned well... Even I'd like a taste of cinnamon and a hint of clove... Linda

Trudy, great to read your work this evening. This might be the first poem I have read of yours. Here's what I like about your winning write...the only object making noise is your comforting brew... an onomatopoeia delight!! ....I wonder if anyone wrote of the health benefits of coffee...Still have a few more to go! Congrats again. gwendolen

Gwendolen, thank you for your comment and praises on my piece here, I have to admit, I had to look up "onomatopoeia' BUT I love learning new words so thank you for that also! ::grin:: ~Trudy~

This is a real honor for you to say so, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, the cinnamon makes all the difference in the world, I just a teaspoon in the grounds when brewing.
