Coffee
Black liquid of love.
Slightly too hot, more than too cold.
I love you just the same.
A whisper of cream, a tiny teaspoon of sweetness,
your promise, a warm embrace,
from my nose…to my toes.
First thing in the morning, or when driving all night,
you are there for me.
Truck stops, fancy restaurants, rich houses and poor ones…
all, places of refuge… a cup of “Joe” for a friend.
Let’s sit and talk, let’s share a moment.
You and me and the steam.
We can speak of the day, or sit and pray…
It is all good for me.
Sharing with a friend, or sitting alone.
The liquid swirls around…
It never lets me down.
