Notes About The Poem

Clowning Around

I suppose I’m a poetic clown I’m content with life, I don’t get down And I’ll deny the rumour Brits have no sense of humour This injustice will sure make me frown I confirm I’m not much of a poet My writing style sucks and I know it I use silly words Like boobies and turds I amuse folks just by using my wit In reality I’m pretty quiet And I’ve never been tempted to diet I am a mother and wife And I just cherish my life You won’t find me out causing a riot Contest Who do you think you are Sponsor Caren Krutsinger 8/27/18

Well some of your poems cause a riot Jan; a riot of laughter, and that is the only thing that will save this world from the nutters and their version of comedy - thanks again Jan - Lindsay

A fun one that describes you well except the not much of a poet part. Mind you there is still much much more to you. Congrats on your win.

I think folks just see me as a humourist and a poop one at that lol I do surprise with the odd more serious poem but there isn't enough laughter in the world especially on soup at times so I try and buck the trend:-) hugs jan xx

Jan, you can't get away with putting my friend Jan Allison down anymore, OK?! That said, such a humble, self-effacing write from the first-class person it takes to make such statements (and then go out and disprove them every day!). Congrats, my poetic friend, on your win in the contest. Best always, Gershon

I just try to make folks smile Ilene I never in my wildest dreams would have ever thought I'd be writing poetry, it is in my blood as my aunt and uncle both wrote (as did my mother and grandmother but I never saw their work, it just took my hubbies cancer to kick start me to put pen to paper:-) hugs jan xx

SO easy to read! Well done! Too bad it took your husband's cancer surgery to motivate you to cheer up the world; just think of all we have missed! Aloha! Rico

Funny and cute but I don't agree with the second stanza that begins, "I confirm I'm not much of a poet". What ever. There once was a poet named Jan. Who wrote just the best that she can. Her poems are great. There'll be no debate. And I am her number one fan.

Thanks Chris, I'm a relative newcomer to writing since my hubby had cancer surgery in 2013 and I think I've found my forte in writing silly poems to make folk smile. In reality I am a quiet person, just the humour shines out when I write:-) hugs jan xx
