Clouds
Charming chiseled wonder white
On marble of the brightest blue;
In perfect painting I delight,
And long to be above with you –
To sail the skies on wily wisps of breeze,
And take on softly sifting pow'dry shapes;
To float forever on your waveless sea,
And hide in misty shrouds of your embrace
A hurried upward glance at tranquil tufts
Will tell a passing mortal you are still,
But gazing close upon your silken fluff,
I witness stirring tendrils of your will
You glide so graceful, seeming unafraid,
And dare to drift despite relentless change;
From dawn to dusk you trace your winding path,
Though soon you'll be a mark of nature’s wrath
But now you give no gloomy sign of storm,
Content to sleep in azure sky serene,
Securely wrapped in softest sheets so warm –
A peaceful child in a pleasant dream.
