You watch the candle burning you thought they were a charade watching them flicker You played with painted ladies see how they turn and twitch And the moon is praying to be somewhere else, solitary as a walk on the parade you watch the sky's unfold like petticoats they flutter by beach and inroads you groan for redemption gathered within the dust
