Clay Mask
Can you not see?
I wear a mask
To disguise spree
In my mad task.
I wear a grin
And hide my lie
With poise within
That spawns sad eyes.
I wear my guile
That tell on you
With a shrewd smile
In what I do.
I style a sigh
To a harsh world
That kills my highs
As terror swirls.
I groom a face
Hidden from sight
To plant deep trace
As prize prompts right.
I do not mind
The tears I cry
But work to bind
True tact I try.
I am but clay
Where longing piles
In glimpse of play
In pieces vile.
Am I not vile
But greed knows dash
Of tricks that pile
As conflicts clash.
I know fond gain
In keeping scores
For mask hides plain
My stash and store.
I sing and dance
With relish grand
To dare breeze chance
Of choice I stand.
I wear a mask
That hides my face
To confront task
In secret space.
Why do I mask
My sensuous feel
In private bask
Of blinding thrill?
