Notes About The Poem

written for Eve Ropers Nursery Rhymes contest. Inspired by the cat pic.

Claw-some Paws

In the verdant valley of claw-some tales
lived a lady in a cottage of tails.
Every morning, her cat Grey loves to sit,
sip chamomile tea until paws permit,
a scratch here and there to wake her spirit,
so the sneaky rodents nearby fear it.
But the cat knew not the language of hate;
she was a queen dreaming of love and fate.
To unleash the mice that hide and scurry
through the countryside without a worry.
The rising sun too knows how stars despise
grumpy kittens purring through greedy eyes.
And Miss Grey did nothing but deeply muse,
while vested in checkered silvery hues,
she crafted a plan to spread stellar light
amidst the chaos that dwells at midnight,
hopes for peace within the community,
gives all the lives an opportunity~
to shine and flaunt their soft furry wishes,
wave sorrows goodbye with purrfect kisses.

Ahh IE, a vision of utopia! I find it fascinating. If we could only make it so...it requires so much to get everyone on the same page, but as you point out, it starts with a vision. Smiles!

I've never seen you write such a sweet poem, you should write your own book on nursery rhymes.... I can see you must have worked really hard on this, especially as you claim that rhymes do not come naturally for you... The poem flows and rhymes really well and I think Eve will really love this one.. BOL..

What a lovely natured cat is Miss Grey, trying to spread peace and love in a community ridden with strife and war, waving goodbye to all sorrows! She enjoys life, sipping chamomile tea and musing on what good she can do for the wellbeing of the world. A unique and lovely entry for the contest. All the Best dear Empress. This poem has given a lovely start to my day.

Hi Ink, It looks like your Ms. Gray was a very evolved feline who had dispensed of her predator instincts for the good of the whole. This is so wonderfully written and would make a great kid dies book. Best of luck to you in your contest. P.S. Yesterday was international cat day. Blessings

You're great at Nursery rhymes dear, Ink. I like how the poem conveys a message about kindness and the importance of striving for a world where everyone, regardless of their differences, can live peacefully and joyfully. Lovely story and you have narrated it so well. I've never liked cats, aside their aggressive and stubborn nature, I just have never seen cats to be peaceful. But Grey, despite having the power to intimidate or harm chooses instead to dream of love and unity. I love Grey.
