Christmas Spent In War

snow
stained red
frightened eyes
tears scorch and burn
gas-filled bombs on Christmas in our trenches

Far from home dying and dead lay scattered
where bombs explode
on Christmas
with gifts
death

screams
anguished
silent graves
frozen in place
we may never see another Christmas

Frederic, a meaningful, sad poem. I work with a gentleman who used to play horn in the arm band.

wow, this has great impact, Frederic. I am seeing a number of them based on the war theme. Such an ugly horrid thing to happen to our soldiers.

This is emotionally heart wrenching. Nicely paired with taps. Speechless.
