Christmas Memories 2016
Another Christmas draws ever near and
memories of Christmas past flood my mind.
The warmth of our home this chilly morn
and my wife playing the piano in a distant
corner of the house create a feeling of
contentment difficult to describe.
We live, we love, we cherish these times that
we can share with loved ones; including those
times from the past told in stories in front of the
fireplace or on a long walk in the winter's snow.
However, someday in the distant future the piano
of today will have grown silent and the warmth of the home
will have given way to cold ashes or worn timbers. The times
of our lives will have been lived and only memories will
remain. But what memories they will be if captured
by each generation and passed along with loving care.
For in the future a different piano will echo its song
and new warmth will accompany its refrain as those that
we have passed glimpses of our lives to will continue the
tradition and we will live on in worn and faded photographs and
humorous and revealing tales passed down through the generations.
