Christmas Lost

I saw a commercial the other day,
Featuring that white haired, Christmas guy,
Nothing too unusual, nothing too weird
Except it was the Fourth of July.

My son knows Santa and Rudolph, too;
He knows Frosty and the Polar Express;
The other night he looked confused
When I told him the story of Jesus.

It seems to me as I walk through the mall
We’ve lost the meaning of the season
Greedy merchants and the stress of it all
I think is the ultimate reason.

So take a moment to stop and think about what Christmas means
If you do, I think you’ll see, things aren’t as bad as they seem.

They've taken it out of the schools. The churches are the only place you can find Christmas these days. Congratulations on your win, Joe.

"So take a moment to stop and think about what Christmas means If you do, I think you’ll see, things aren’t as bad as they seem." Yep, Joe, Love still means the same thing it always has, no matter what we do in our world. "Congratulations" on a worthy poem's recognition! Agape, Moses
