Christmas In Paris With Gentle Snow Falling

Christmas in Paris with gentle snow falling Listening to the bells of Notre Dame calling The faithful from their frantic shopping spree, A sleigh ride through the Tuileries, you and me In the shadow of the Louvre bringing art alive Stopping for a drink or two in a café at five. Then, to the Opera House for an evening show Ah, in the City of Lights, so many places to go At Christmas, we see the Eiffel Tower in lights, And I must mention, Folies Bergère, ah, sights We must not miss, under the mistletoe, a kiss Paris at Christmas … the true meaning of bliss.

Paris at any time is worth a trip and the expense. Been there several times and still haven't seen everything it offers. Love the outdoor cafés and people watching, shopping and speaking French, and above all, eating great food! I avoid going at holiday times – too crowded, too hectic, too expensive. / Maurice

"Ah, in the City of Lights, so many places to go" I had no idea it was the city of lights, so thank you!

My husband, John, took me to Paris 15 years ago; it was a present for my 70th birthday. We had a marvellous time. It is a place I would like to live. The markets were splendid. John speaks enough French to get by, albeit rusty. We found the French reserved but seemed to appreciate John trying to talk in their language. The ambience in Paris is palpable. I love Paris, and I loved your Rhyme, Milt.

Just give me the date and I'll have a bag packed and ready to go! I've never been to Paris, but it sounds lovely through your eyes.

It is a remarkably beautiful place. I didn't care much for the French people I met, but I loved the city.

Very nice poem, Milton. A walk through the postcards... I imagined Rimbaud there.

Your love of Gay Paree shines through in another well written verse Milton. Your poetry can take you anywhere in the world you want to be. Good luck. Tom

So true, Tom. I was in Paris at Christmas, oh, at least forty years ago, but it was an unforgettable time.
