Christmas In July
There was a little girl. She was Sue May,
and sweet was she. Of that there was no doubt.
It happened she’d been born on Christmas day,
so on that day, poor Sue May got left out.
Her many siblings raced down to the tree
with Sue to find their presents piled up there.
How quickly they tore wrapping off with glee.
But Christmas for them ALL seemed not quite fair.
A child needs special recognition on
their day of birth. Though she did not complain,
Sue’s parents over her could barely fawn,
and gladness for her cake Sue used to feign.
The summer after her sixth birthday, Sue
walked in her house, met with a happy cry
of Happy Birthday from all whom she knew.
Her parents gave her Christmas in July!
