Christmas Gift Memory

I love the huge tree with all it's lights,
the bright colors light up the cold nights.
My aunt's special gift,
always gave me a holiday lift.
A little box was waiting just for me,
every year was $5.00 not a bee.
First year married she went crazy with two gifts each,
my husband had a nightgown of peach.
He had no words~no speech,
for the name tag I did reach.

A Christmas Gift Memory Contest

Note: This really did happen.
My aunt put the wrong name on the tag/box.
We laughed until we cried.
When I called her,
she could not believe she had done it.
We laughed about it until she pasted away.
It made that Christmas and each year there after.

Paula, congratulations on your trophy placing in the poetry contest! Oh my goodness, what a surprise your husband had from your sweet aunt! That was a real peach of a gift, not quite on the right tree! Still, the memory is so funny that it truly did turn out to be a gift that keeps on giving throughout the years in a hysterically funny mix-up, and the love that you shared with your aunt. Very precious. May your new year be blessed with all that's good and be filled with many joy filled memories!

Thanks for reading and for writing. Glad you like this funny "Christmas Gift Memory write. He did not know what to say when he opened the box up. He then said, "I think this will not fit." Then he held it up. I said, "it is not your color." We both started to laugh so hard our sides hurt. Have a blessed day writing away...............
