Christmas Day
CHRISTMAS DAY
(Childhood dreams)
Many, many years to count ago
I wanted lots of things
From Dear old Father Christmas
The many letters we all sent up
Our chimneys that caught them aglow
All we wrote in our best hand writing
Of dolls and books we must not miss
This and that we wanted on the list that went up
These things I did so very long ago
Always different lists every year of things
We wanted sent to dear old Father Christmas
Now all grown up, the grandchildren send them up
But I never forgot the one from long ago
When I remember such happiness I want to sing
A Betta Building set, that I could make into many houses
My I had such a shock that I woke every one up
It had bricks, doors, windows and roof tiles that long ago
Such joy of it I have never forgot that toy building thing
The toy that came from dear old Father Christmas
Now no longer young, no letters do I send up
