Notes About The Poem

Watching the debate last night prompted me to write this poem. Hopefully, none of the candidates see it...NOT!

Christian Politicians

Christian Politicians
By Franklin Price
3/3/2016

Politicians not acting Christian
When they sink to tales and lies
Doesn't count they cross their fingers
All their toes and both their eyes

Turn their backs on Jesus' teachings
And ignore the Golden Rule
Worst of all, politically,
Make themselves look like a fool

I think they've changed the Golden Rule
By just a word or two
“Do unto all the others
Before they can do to you”

If winning the election
Is to ignore what Jesus taught
Should change their names to Judas
For thirty pieces can bought

They don't get to pick and choose
When to live the Christian way
If Christian, should be living it
Every hour of the day

Not just on Sunday mornings
When sitting in the pew
Should be in all their actions
And in everything they do

The advice I give to candidates
If were with them would emote
“Don't say that you are Christian
Just to get another vote”
